Prosecutors allege the 43-year-old had unlawful sex with the boy in her home and in a car.
WESTMINSTER – A 43-year-old woman facing charges of having sex with her son’s 12-year-old friend pleaded not guilty during her Friday arraignment at the West Justice Center.
Patricia Ann Serrano, 43, of Fountain Valley, is charged with three felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 with the sentencing enhancement for substantial sexual conduct with a child, according to a joint news release from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Fountain Valley Police Department.
If convicted, she faces up to 12 years in prison.
Serrano was in custody Thursday afternoon and is being held on $100,000 bail.
Prosecutors allege Serrano had unlawful sex with the boy in her home and in a car two times in October.
One time the defendant is accused of kissing the 12-year-old in a locked room. The victim’s mother discovered Serrano in the room with the boy, the news release said.
The mother did not observe any sexual contact but became suspicious of Serrano’s relationship with her son and told police, according to prosecutors.
Fountain Valley police arrested Serrano on Tuesday.
